A Case for Extreme Adventure

As the heat rises so does our appetite for outdoor adventure. From huddling around heaters we’re suddenly propelled to stretch out in the sunshine and take some risks.

If you’re itching to seriously stretch your limits this summer - you’ll be glad to know that we’ve compiled a list of extreme adventures you have to try! A bucket list, if you will. C the adventure, with us!

We can’t stop you from living on the edge or jumping off the cliff, but we can help you keep your essentials safe, while you do so. Before we dive into our Cellini favourites of 8 must-try-once-in-a-lifetime adventures, we just thought we would let you know that while you’re risking it, we’re not, your valuables are our top priority.  Our luggage comes standard with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty and an integrated TSA lock as well as the tamper-resistant Safe-T-Zip to keep your things safe, not for just now, but for a long time!

8 must-try-once-in-a-lifetime Cellini favourites:

  1. Abseiling – From Abseiling a 60m cliff face at the Muningi Gorge, near Pretoria, to a 112m drop down Table Mountain – there’s no shortage of awesome abseiling opportunities in SA.
  2. Bungee Jumping – From Bloukrans Bridge, near Nature’s Valley to the iconic Soweto Towers, it’s time take that leap of faith and feel more alive than you’ve ever felt before.
  3. Caving – The challenges of exploring caves resonate with our deep desire to adventure into the unknown.  SA has a wide range of options for those not so scared of the dark or small spaces. Visit Cango Cave or Gobholo Caves to experience the adrenaline of caving.
  4. Kloofing  -  This one is for the thrill seekers! If kloofing is new to you, let us explain. Kloofing is the art of following a mountain stream down its natural course by floating, jumping and swimming. So, if you’re looking for a thrill head to Suicide Gorge or Grootkloof on your next adventure!
  5. Quad Biking - From Wild X Quad bike dune adventures in Atlantis, Cape Town to Segwati Quad Trails offering a unique game-viewing experience (only a 40-minute drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria in Gauteng) – quad biking is a great way for sightseeing off the beaten track.
  6. River Rafting – The list is long! Orange river, Vaal River, Doring River, Blyde River, Umkomaas and Bushman’s river…there’s a white water rafting expedition waiting.  The beauty of this activity is that you not only navigate through rapids at high speed but have a chance to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery along the way.
  7. Sandboarding – For coastal dunes of all sizes and challenge levels, Sandboarding in SA points us to dunes near Cape Town and the Garden Route. It also mentions that the JBay beaches near Gqeberha is a must for serious sand boarders.  In the northern part of the country, the Kalahari Desert is a great sandboarding hotspot. Should you need a bit of practice before hitting the big dunes - head for Mount Mayhem on the outskirts of Jozi.
  8. Skydiving - Skydiving is certainly considered one of the most thrilling adventures in the world. The view is all worth it, we like to think Skydiving adventures are offered in Cape Town, Durban, Plett, Johannesburg, Knysna, Mossel Bay and Melkbosstrand – so choose your landscape and take the jump!

But before you reach for the sky and head out on your exhilarating adventure, take a look at some of our practical (and pretty) backpacks and carry bags to help you keep it all together!
